Meet Jena Paulo!

What inspired you to launch a web-based business? I was working in educational business operations for years in an in-person setting.  I was becoming burnt out and was seeking a change. I decided to take the leap to start my own business while still harnessing my skills in business operations.

What do you love most about having your own business? I love that I can support business owners around the world. I’ve worked with people across over half the US and across Europe, Australia, and Africa!

What is the most challenging about running a business? When I first started my business, I thought that having enough discipline to get work done was going to be tough. Actually, I found that putting work down has been the most challenging. When you run your own business, the work never stops.

What are some of your proudest accomplishments? I am SO proud of the community I have created. I started a Facebook group called ClickUp for Entrepreneurs for business owners who use or want to learn to use ClickUp to manage and support their business. This group had grown to ~2k members in just over a year! I support this community by hosting three free monthly events and daily content centered around improving your business operations with ClickUp.

Another proud moment was hitting six figures within the first 18 months of business and then doubling it the second year!

Where’s your favorite place to get work done? I love working at a local cafe where they have co-working tables and big windows. Having a change of scenery every once in a while is so beneficial and can be a great source of inspiration.

Wild Web Women Interview with Jena Paulo, Virtual Solutions Business OwnerName three web tools you can’t live without.

How do you unplug from work? In the warmer months, my family and I love to go camping in Northern California! When it’s cooler, I love to unplug by binging my favorite TV shows and going to the movies with with my son!

What tips for maintaining work/life balance would you give to other businesswomen? It may feel that everything in your business is URGENT. I can promise you, it is not. You do not have to respond to that email immediately. You do not need to be ON all the time. Close your computer and enjoy you time, family time, and friend time!

What investments have most helped your business grow? I’ve invested in 1:1 coaching which has been a crucial part of growing my business. Beyond that, investing in bringing on team members to support different aspects of my business has been HUGE for my business. This allows me to stay in my zone of genius rather than bouncing all over trying to be the CEO, social media manager, web designer, bookkeeper, content creator, etc.

What is the number one piece of advice would you give to someone who wants to run a web-based business? Honestly, I don’t have anything profound to say here. Just do it. It was the best decision I could have made for myself and my family. Don’t let your doubts and worries hold you back.  You will figure it all out!
