“Every human is an artist.
The dream of your life is to make beautiful art.”
― Don Miguel Ruiz

I had the privilege of giving a talk to a group of young women enrolled in ENTITY Academy on the topic of navigating client relationships. I am loving “Sage-ing Gracefully” and sharing my advice with women of all ages. 🙂

During my session, I suggested they read The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. These four agreements have helped me navigate life, love, work, relationships, divorce, parenting, leadership, marriage, and more. It is a book that I have moved to five different houses and have had for almost two decades. I am now reading Miguel’s book The Fifth Agreement, which is a great refresher on the four agreements with a lot more powerful wisdom layered on top.

The Four Agreements are:

  • Be impeccable with your word.
  • Don’t take anything personally.
  • Don’t make assumptions.
  • Always do your best.

So simple, but always not so easy. 🙂 As I read the Fifth Agreement, I am reminded that our life is ours to shape. We are all artists and our life is our canvas.

How do you want to paint yours?

I felt very un-artistic when my talk hit the Q and A section with these amazing young women when I was asked what the difference was between making assumptions and using your intuition. My academic side (mind) panicked. I just told them not to assume, but I also talked about the power of listening to intuition. Did I blow my talk? Then I tuned into my feminine power and listened to my heart….

That was it!!! Assumptions are made in the mind…intuition is feeling our heart or our gut! I was able to answer the question while still being honest and helpful.

I share this because I used the “always do your best” agreement to help me stay grounded and best serve.

Remember that we all have the gift of ART (powered by our HEART) that helps us shape and mold how we live.

If you haven’t had the pleasure of reading these books, be sure to check them out!
