“Unused creativity is not benign. It metastasizes.
It turns into grief, rage, judgment, sorrow, shame.”
– Brené Brown, PhD, LMSW
The first time I heard Brené Brown say the above quote on an Oprah Super Soul Sunday podcast, I stopped breathing for a moment because it resonated so deeply within me. It was a Total Truth Bomb! We all have creativity lying within us. Whether you chose to bring it out or keep it dormant can make or break you. Creativity leads to freedom. Freedom to be true to yourself, your wants, your ideas. There is no perfect time to make your dreams come alive! Why dream it when you can do it?
While myself and my team of Wild Web Women (and one Man) have been in quarantine mode for the past few months, we have all found creative outlets to bring out the best in ourselves while we were staying home and working, parenting, teaching, and worrying. Aside from working hard for our web marketing clients, we’ve all been doing something that we are passionate about to keep our creativity afloat. Here is what some of our Wild Web team has been up to!
Staying at home had Wild Web Woman Kelly looking for fun ways to spruce up her space. She started by planning to paint every wall, ceiling and trim in her home. Impressively, she is almost halfway done! Although she did discover that ceilings and all the cutting takes a lot of time! She also practiced some sustainable decorating by reusing a free pallet. The idea started with a camping mattress that was going unused, so with the help of her husband and son she built a pallet daybed in the backyard, complete with a tilting headboard so you can sit up or lay down completely. They also added a retractable shade cover so her family can work outside or sleep outside and look at the stars.
Wild Web Woman Cinder has expanded her culinary skills during the quarantine time. She has cooked a number of dishes from Spaghetti Carbonara to Shoyu ramen. Though making the perfect Char Siu Bao still eludes her, her pride and joy is her badass loaded quesadillas. She is now looking into perfecting a loaded burrito.
Wild Web Woman Anne has been baking all sorts of desserts and goodies. While it satisfies her friends and family’s sweet teeth, it also nourishes her soul to get creative in the kitchen and make those around her momentarily forget any of their woes when they sink their teeth into a scrumptious cookie pie or lemon bundt cake.
AND I am excited to share with you that my creativity project is something that I am doing for all of you wonderful wild web women! For years, I have been dreaming of creating a digital magazine for women and I am in the process of getting the first edition done now! It is designed to inspire, educate, entertain, and connect with other wonderful women. I cannot wait to share it with you!
What have you been doing to keep your creative flame from burning out? Remember, it’s never too late to live your dream!
If you are super passionate about your web-based work, don’t believe in limitations and are ready to take your business to the next level, then you can’t afford not to be in the Wild Web Women® Rebel Circle.
